Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) celebrated the 72nd Independence Day at all its work locations across India with patriotic zeal. Addressing the employees from Corporate Headquarters at Dehradun, ONGC CMD Mr. Shashi Shanker urged all ONGC employees to focus efforts for achieving Energy Independence for the country, aligning themselves with Hon’ble Prime Minister’s objective of 10 per cent import reduction by 2022.
Mr. Shanker said, “With the completion of some of our flagship projects in Bay of Bengal and Arabian Sea, ONGC will be able to increase gas production substantially to meet the national objective of Energy Independence, primarily through a gas based economy”.
He said, “Despite the recent downturn in global crude prices, ONGC strategically continued to maintain high level of capex commitment of around Rs 30, 000 Crore; 28 major projects worth more than Rs. 78,000 Crore (11.4 billion USD) with envisaged gain of around 185 Million Metric Tons of Oil Equivalent (MMtoe) are currently under implementation. Among these, development of KG-DWN-98/2 and Daman are particularly important in terms of their contribution to total gains.” Timely monetization of these projects is crucial to ONGC’s long-term growth, he added.
Three ONGC Fire Services officers, viz.? Shri Sanjay Kumar, Shri Hari Sing Sokar and Shri Buddha Kameshwara Rao, are recipients of President’s awards and have been decorated with Fire Service Medal for meritorious services.
